Activity description

Take advantage of the superb clear skies over the Vercors Regional Nature Park and discover astronomy on snowshoes!

Admiring the stars near Grenoble is possible in the heart of the Vercors Regional Nature Park, far from any light pollution and offering crystal-clear skies in winter: don a pair of snowshoes and set off on a short 2.5 to 3-hour walk to discover astronomy in the Vercors! Led by a qualified mountain guide with a passion for astronomy, you will have the pleasure of learning all about this magical area.

As well as taking in the incredible clarity of the starry sky just a stone's throw from Grenoble, you will enjoy snowshoeing through the Vercors Regional Nature Park, to the sound of your footsteps sinking into the snow. Your guide will make several stops to introduce you to the stars, and also to tell you a few myths that will have young and old alike dreaming.

Open to anyone aged 8 and over, this snowshoe walk and astronomy discovery in the Vercors Regional Nature Park is sure to make for a wonderful end to the day near Grenoble this winter!

Course of events

- Meeting with the instructor in front of the tourist office in Lans-en-Vercors

- Drive to the hiking area in your own vehicle

- Put on your snowshoes, followed by a briefing on the tour and safety instructions

- Start of the snowshoe walk under the stars, lasting around 2.5 to 3 hours in the Vercors

- Return to the vehicles, equipment removal and end of the tour

Activity requirements

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of the activity.

A minimum number of 4 participants is required for this activity to take place.

Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. A written parental authorisation is required for minors between 14 and 18 years old to take part in this activity.

Special terms

In the event of less favourable weather, the outing will continue with an indoor stargazing, using a "star theater" projector that will allow you to discover the stars as planned.

Please note that the exact duration and itinerary of the activity are also weather-dependent and can be modified if the guide deems it necessary. This outing will also be offered as a classic hike in the event of insufficient snow conditions.

Pets are welcome to join this activity on request and must be kept on a lead.
